The India Cultural Society of Rockland has been passionately keeping the torch of Indian culture alive in the tri-state area since 1972. ICSR is a non-profit organization representing over 500 families of Indian origin in the county of Rockland, Orange, and parts of New Jersey. ICSR is instrumental in promoting Indian culture, arts, music and heritage to local mainstream community through various events organized throughout the year.
In 1972 a group of well meaning, passionate individuals from the Indian Community in Rockland got together to start an informal group that later morphed into an organizational concept by Late Dr Rajavaidya, M.D.

Meet the Team
Our team is made of enthusiastic and energetic volunteers who strive to bring a variety of interesting programs throughout the year for all age groups. The ICSR committee runs on the advice, time and energy provided by volunteers within the community. This committee is the governing body and consists of 19 officers who serve a term of one year. They are :7 Executive Committee members: President, President Elect, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, Joint Treasurer and Public Relations Officer and 12 Directors. The 2018 committee consists of hardworking volunteers from various fields including, business, medicine, management, IT, and sciences.
We are very proud to have added a group of youth members to our committee. The idea is to
- Provide a platform to actively contribute towards the organization & also generate a stronger sense of belonging to ICSR and Indian culture in general.
- Opportunity to grow and develop as leaders, team workers, and collect community service hours.
